Our Happy Hound Day Care is set up to give all dogs the space to be active with play or have a relax when desired. Set in an indoor and secure facility we have over 10,000 sq. ft. of play space for their enjoyment.
The play and activity are divided up into 5 sections to allow different activities to be planned to meet your dog’s individual needs. We also have our Snuggle Hut for when your dog would like to relax and get some cuddle time. As a member of our day care programme we look at every dog's individual personality. We want him/her to enjoy their visit based on what makes them happy may that be lots of activities or simply gentle activities and more ‘relax’ time as with some older dogs. We look to develop their needs may it be social time with other dogs, with other people, lead walking or general communication. As for you the owner, we invite you into the day care area to meet the dogs and see what we do. We are very flexible with drop off and pickup times so it is convenient for you, as we know everyone’ schedule is different. We’ll keep you informed in person and share pictures and video through our Facebook Central Bark page so you are always aware of your dog’s progress.

We are proud to be able to offer lovely shelter dogs for adoption. Through the desire to adopt our own dog in need, we have found our loving Alfie (Golden Retriever mix) through a fantastic charity called Starlight Barking. They specialise in Greek rescues such as our Alfie. We work closely with Starlight Barking to bring dogs to our facility where we foster and socialise them in a cage free environment. This allows us to teach them basic training and get to know their personalities. Better yet you get to meet them when you come to the café and get to know them in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.

There is no reason other than any dogs that are in shelters are in need of help and a home. We welcome any other shelters in the U.K. or around the world to contact us. The benefit we offer is a new approach to giving unwanted dogs a chance to socialise, learn and meet their potential forever families. We have been very successful in matching lovely dogs to loving families and we take time to carefully get to know the dogs before we help select the right home for them.
As for the Greek dogs, they are mainly street dogs due to the local debt crisis situation. Many dogs are left to roam and reproduce, creating an estimated population of over 1 million strays within that country. The crossed breeds are a lovely mix of Labradors, Retrievers, Beagles, Greek hounds, Greek Shepard’s etc. They are put in shelters that are open space so it helps them being sociable with other dogs. Their nature is generally friendly and in need of love. Coming to Central Bark allows us to identify their needs, offer some personal training and get a feel for what their past life has been for them. It is so much better than being stuck in a cage creating stress and with little human or dog interaction. Please follow our Facebook page @ Central Barkand we’ll keep you up to date with our rescue programme.
All dogs are thoroughly checked, updated with all vaccinations and neutered/spayed before making their journey to the U.K.
The massive space will cater for pet owners and dogless visitors: dog owners who visit the café can let their pets loose in the play area for a small fee, while canine-fans can pet the pups.
All dogs go through an evaluation process," adds Tony. "To make sure they're sociable, to make sure they're not dominant, to make sure they won't have an experience where they feel overwhelmed.
An indoor house also provides accommodation for overnight stays - where members of the public can also volunteer to stay too - and a grooming room is on hand to pamper pooches..
